Creative Halloween Dessert Recipes

My boys love to help me make these because they are so fun.

Ding Bats

1 stick of butter
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
1 package of dates
1 cup of pecans, chopped
1 teaspoon of vanilla
4 cups of Rice Krispies
toasted coconut

Melt butter and sugar over a double boiler. Add the egg and dates and stir continuously so the egg doesn’t curdle. Cook until all the sugar is dissolved. Add pecans and cook another 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and add vanilla and Rice Krispies. Mix well. Use a bat shaped cookie cutter and cut out individual cookies. Sprinkle with the toasted coconut and let cool.

Blood Clot Dip

1 8oz container of strawberry yogurt
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup of thawed whipped topping
red food coloring
apples and pears for dipping

Mix yogurt, cinnamon and red food coloring in a mixing bowl. Fold in whipped topping until completely blended. Place mixture into a chilled decorative bowl.

Alternative Recipe-
Instead of using strawberry yogurt use vanilla. Add in 1/2 cup of peanut butter to the yogurt and cinnamon for a completely different flavor.

Graveyard Cupcakes

For the cake:
1 box white or yellow cake mix
2 tablespoon cocoa
2 eggs
1 bottle red food coloring
1 teaspoon of vinegar
1/2 cup of vegetable oil

For the frosting:

1 stick of softened butter
1 8oz box of softened cream cheese
1 box of confectioner’s sugar (powdered sugar)
brown food coloring

For the decorations:

Crushed oreos for dirt
Nutter Butter cookies, cut in half
white chocolate bark
black decorators frosting

Prepare the cake according to the package, substituting whole milk for water. Add in the other ingredients and bake in a cupcake pan.

Mix the frosting ingredients in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add the brown food coloring drop by drop until it’s the color of dirt.

Melt the white chocolate bark in the microwave in 30 second increments. Add a little black frosting so the chocolate becomes gray. Dip the Nutter Butter cookies in the chocolate until fully covered and let sit on a piece of wax paper until hard. Put the black frosting in a piping bag with a small decorators tip to decorate your tombstones however you want.

Frost the cupcakes when cooled and sprinkle with crushed Oreo cookies. Finish off with your tombstone.
