Easy Halloween Crafts: Simple Crafts for Halloween that are Fun to Eat

Traditional Halloween crafts such as carving jack-o-lanterns or making Halloween cut-outs are a sure way to please party guests. Yet adding in a non-traditional activity can be a surprising treat. The following edible crafts are fun to make and to eat.

Edible Halloween Candy Necklace

This edible candy necklace is fun to make, enjoyable to wear, and delicious to eat.

Items Needed:

  • An assortment of penny candy
  • Miniature candy bars
  • Saran wrap or other clear, soft plastic

Directions:

  1. Make 6 inch squares of plastic wrap.
  2. Place one miniature candy bar in the middle of the square.
  3. Roll plastic wrap around candy.
  4. In another plastic wrap square, place one piece of penny candy.
  5. Roll the plastic wrap around this candy.
  6. Tie the end of one square to the end of the other square.
  7. Repeat this pattern, alternating large candy with small candy to make a long strand.
  8. Tie each end of the strand together to make a necklace.

Spider Cookies

Turn ordinary cookies into Halloween spiders.

Items Needed:

  • Thin cookies of your choice
  • Chocolate frosting
  • Black licorice laces, cut into 3 inch pieces
  • Candy Corn
  • Red Hot Candies
  • Paper or plastic plates
  • Plastic knives

Directions:

  1. Have each guest take two cookies.
  2. Place frosting on the top of one cookie.
  3. Place licorice laces around cookie on top of frosting to make legs.
  4. Place second cookie on top of frosted one.
  5. Spread frosting on top cookie.
  6. Place Red Hots on top of frosting to make spider’s eyes.
  7. Place two Candy Corns on top of frosting to make spider’s teeth.

Halloween Cupcakes

Make homemade cupcakes or have your local bakery make unfrosted cupcakes for this free-form Halloween activity. Have sample decorated cupcakes on hand to give decorating ideas to your party guests.

Items Needed:

  • Gummy spiders and worms
  • Candy Corn
  • Licorice Laces
  • Other assorted candies
  • Chocolate and vanilla frosting
  • Unfrosted cupcakes
  • Plastic knives
  • Paper or plastic plates

Directions:

  1. Place one unfrosted cupcake on plate.
  2. Frost the cupcake as desired.
  3. Decorate cupcake using gummy candies, licorice, and other candies in a free-form style.
  4. Alternately, create spider cupcakes using licorice laces as legs or create a web pattern using licorice laces and place one gummy spider in the center.

Graveyard Cake

Have your smallest party spooks help to decorate this graveyard cake, complete with tombstones and skeletons; this is a Halloween recipe for fun.

Items Needed:

  • Rectangular shaped unfrosted cake
  • Chocolate and vanilla frosting
  • Gummy skeletons
  • Oval shaped cookies
  • Large Ziploc bag
  • Plastic knives

Directions:

  1. Place cake in center of small table.
  2. Frost top of cake as desired.
  3. Push cookies down into cake until standing upright.
  4. Lay gummy skeletons around cookies in various positions.
  5. Fill Ziploc bag with frosting.
  6. Cut small hole in one corner of bag.
  7. Roll bag down until frosting comes out the hole.
  8. Write on cake “rest in peace” and other sayings found on tombstones.

These simple, but fun edible Halloween activities are great to keep visitors of all ages entertained at any Halloween party. With each bite, guests may agree that the best part of these activities comes after the craft-making is done.
