Kids are getting overwhelmed with junk food these days because there is so much of it, and when Halloween comes around it makes it even tougher for parents. Instead of having another super sweet and sugary Halloween this year, lets go for some fun, healthy snacks. Here are some ideas for making some healthy snacks, that will also be enjoyable for kids and parents alike, to eat for this Halloween:
1.) Floppy Ghosts – These are very easy to make and you can use an assortment of flavors; blueberry, strawberry, or . All you have to do is get some pancake batter that is ‘just add water’. Follow the directions on the box to make the pancakes to be thicker rather than thinner. After you get 10-12 pancakes made cut them out into shapes of different ghosts. Just use a spoon to cut the shapes or get some cookie cutters at your local store.
2.) Fruity Friends – This is made using Gelatin, Jell-O or whatever you like to use. Go ahead and get your mix and put it in the bowl along with the right amount of water on the box instructions. After your mix is stirred well, without lumps, put in your favorite fruit, this can be pineapples, apples, pears, cherries, strawberries, peaches or a mixture of all. Then place the mixture in more of a flat casserole dish so you can cut out Halloween characters. Place your dish in the fridge for an hour. Then you are ready to use some Halloween cookie cutters and make some great friends.
3.) PB&J Celery – Buy some celery sticks and cut them into sizes of about four inches. Get a small bowl and mix peanut butter to the same amount of jelly of your choice. Mix the peanut butter and jelly until it is pasty. Then just fill your four inch pieces of celery with the paste.
4.) Yummy Yogurt Cups – Get some small plastic cups, as many as you need for guests, from your local grocery or deli. Place yogurt into each cup along with a serving of nuts. You can use walnuts or peanuts. Its best to get the nuts already crushed. You can also get some whipped cream to make the snack even yummier.
5.) Cheesy Noodle Snack – Get two packages of stroganoff noodles, and 8 oz block of mild cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and some creamy cheese spread in a bottle(this is optional). Cook your noodles until they are soft. Drain your water off the noodles. Cut your block of cheese into small slices and put into your noodles. Stir just a little so your cheese will start to melt. You can add the creamy cheese spread, which is usually used for crackers, to give your noodles a creamy taste. Then add bacon bits until you desire. Just place in bowls or cups and your snack is done.
You can place your snacks out on a table or introduce them separately to the kids. Either way the kids are going to have a great time enjoying these fun, yummy snacks.
