Creating the perfect Halloween costume comes with the perfect makeup. If you are looking to be a cat for this coming Halloween, check out these ten tips for creating an awesome cat look.

Take your time and be patient

You need to always keep in mind that applying makeup that isn’t worn day to day can be a bit challenging. Therefore, please remember to take your time when applying this makeup. Be patient as well. If you want your makeup to look its best, you are going to have to take your time and be okay with that.

Use a variety of makeup

You may not find everything you need to achieve your look with one kit. You may need to find or buy one to two other Halloween makeup sets. Don’t be afraid to use variety when aiming toward the look you want.

Use thick and thin pencils

Don’t just use one size of makeup pencils. If you can, try to use both a thick and thin makeup pencil. You never know how things will turn out so you may need both of these for touch ups or adding something you didn’t think of before.

Remember Halloween makeup is different

Keep in mind that Halloween makeup is not the same as the everyday makeup women wear from cosmetic lines. Therefore because it is different, it could be thicker or thinner depending on the brand. And because of that, you may need to apply more or less of the makeup to get it to how you want it to look.

Try to use better quality

Most people don’t want to spend a fortune on Halloween makeup; in fact a lot of people don’t even want to spend hardly any money to get what they want. Even though the cheap stuff can do you justice, remember that pricier and better quality makeup means that they are in fact probably better quality.

Use makeup accessories

When you’re applying your cat makeup pull all your resources together and use what is convenient and will get the job done. If you bought a Halloween makeup kit, not every makeup tool they give you to apply the makeup is going to do the job great. So use q-tips and wedge makeup applicators to ensure your makeup goes on smoothly.

Have something with a straight edge on hand

If you want your whiskers to look descent, keep something on hand with a straight edge that isn’t sharp. If you have a small ruler, that works great. If not, you can always use a square or rectangular makeup product such a foundation to give you straight lines.

Try to use waterproof makeup

Waterproof makeup is great if you want it to last and actually stay on. In some places it’s still fairly humid or hot outside when Halloween comes around and there’s nothing worse than sweating off your Halloween makeup. It can look gross as well. So try to put on waterproof makeup if it’s available.

Use a base layer

This can be an important part to keeping your cat makeup on. Just as in regular everyday makeup there are bases. Bases help keep your makeup on and helps it last. Put on a base layer of regular makeup that is your skin color before applying the rest of your Halloween makeup.

Be creative and spontaneous

If something isn’t working out for you, don’t be afraid to try something new and solve the problem. Be creative as well. If you want to do the simple cat makeup with just whiskers and a nose, go ahead. But if you’re feeling a bit more into being unique, add something new to your makeup and have fun doing it.
