Six Recipies to Add a Little Spooky to Your Spirits

As a self-proclaimed Halloween-aholic, I have attended and hosted my fair share of Halloween parties. An awesome party requires an awesome bar selection. While your everyday cocktails will work, why not infuse your bar with some signature Halloween cocktails? You can print the recipes from the link below and place them near the bar to let your guests know what is in the drinks and clue them into the names.

Shopping List:
Vodka
Spiced Rum
Bicardi 151
Peach Schapps
Sour Apple Pucker
Chambord
Midori
Grenadine
Sour Mix
Crunk Juice
Apple Cider
Mountain Dew (or any citrus soda)
Orange Juice

Mixed Drinks- Get some shaped ice cube trays for the drinks. You can use mostly regular ice and add one or two bones or skulls to add to the effect.

Blood Bath- Premix the vodka, peach schnapps, and grenadine and keep in a clear or red pitcher.
1 1/2 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Peach Schnapps
splash Grenadine
top with Crunk Juice

Really Hot Cider- I always keep the spiced rum and apple cider in a crock pot and add the 151 when serving…I get a little nervous about heating 151 since it is very flammable.
1 oz. Spiced Rum
3 oz. Apple Cider
top with Bicardi 151

Swamp Thing- Premix the vodka/bacardi, sour apple pucker, and sour mix. Put the mix in a plastic or tempered glass punch bowl or pitcher and add pieces of dry ice to create a foggy swamp. Just be careful as the night goes on…you don’t want your receding judgement to cause you to forget the tongs.
1 oz. Vodka or Bacardi 151
1 oz. Sour Apple Pucker
1 oz. Sour Mix
top with Mountain Dew
Important Note: When you mix a drink that uses anything carbonated, shake the other ingredients, pour into the serving glass, and then add the soda. Shaking it with the soda makes the drink flat.

Shooters- Use these to supplement the mixed drinks and to provide a little Halloween spirit to your beer drinkers. Buy some Halloween shot glasses or the test tube shooters for maximum effect. All the shooters can be mixed ahead of time and poured as needed.

Shoot the Zombies
1/2 oz. Vodka
splash Midori
splash Sour Apple Pucker

Purple People Beater
1/2 oz. Vodka
splash Chambord
splash Peach Schnapps

Jackolantern Juice
1/2 oz. Vodka
splash Orange Juice
splash Peach Schnapps

As far as non-liquor selections go, if you have wine drinkers, Martha Stewart sells these great Mad Scientist Wine Labels to stick over the bottles. You can get 12 labels for $12. As for beer, Halloween beer does exist, but it may be hard to find in your area. At the very least, pick up a skull beer funnel to satisfy the beer drinkers.
