Louisville, Get Ready to Celebrate Halloween!

When it’s Halloween time in Louisville, Kentucky, you can count on having plenty to do! Louisville is home to many special Halloween events including the World’s Largest Halloween Party at the Louisville Zoo, Ghost Tours, Actors Theatre presentations and more! If you’re looking for something for your family, or maybe just you and other adults, the following list of Halloween events and activities in Louisville will not disappoint you. EVENT: World’s Largest Halloween Party (all ages)

Where – The Louisville Zoo, 1100 Trevilian Way, Louisville, Kentucky 40213

When – Every Thursday through Sunday during October (Oct 9-11, 15-18, 22-25, 28-30)

Costs– Parking is $5.00 at the zoo, or you can enjoy the free parking and shuttle bus service from Derby City Field. Tickets are $8.00 per person if purchased at the zoo, $7-7.50 if you go to www.louisvillezoo.org on September 1, or $6.50 at Meijer stores if purchased after September 21.

Notes – For zoo members only: Entry is free ONLY on October 9-11 and 15-18. All other nights in October require a purchased ticket.

The World’s Largest Halloween Party is ideal for families with small children, especially those who want to have fun and not be scared during Halloween.

EVENT: Downtown Louisville Ghost Tours (all ages)

Where – Downtown Louisville including Brennen House, the Old City Jail, Seelbach Hotel and various other historical places. Tour led by guide dressed in period costume and carrying a lantern!

When – Open daily beginning at 8:00 pm (Program ends 11/07/09)

Tickets – $15.00 adults (12 and up); $8.00 children (7-11), FREE Children (6 and under)

Notes – Please note that reservations are required!

EVENT: 15th Annual Danger Run

Where – The Danger Run is what’s more commonly known as a “Ghost Run”. It’s a Halloween-themed game in which teams via their car drive to a final destination which is revealed through clues. Teams are given written clues in the form of rhymes. If you can solve these clues you’ll know where to turn next in your car. The team that makes it to the final destination with the least amount of mileage is eligible for prizes. (This is not a speed race!) Kids are welcome. The price of tickets (below) includes free food from Dairy Queen, 2 visits of haunted houses, and free plastic fangs!

When – September 25 and 26, and all weekends in October (2-3, 9-10, 16-17, 23-24, 30-31).

Tickets – $15.95 per person or $14.95 if you buy online. It’s not necessary to register or advance purchase tickets for this event.
