Finding Spooky Fun in Central New York is Just a Click Away!
Fall time in Central New York is always a local favorite. Few communities celebrate the harvest and bring in Halloween the way they do in Syracuse. Recognizing the need for a centralized directory of all there is to do in the area, the creators of Scarycuse.com have filled a void. Now, rather than spending fruitless hours searching for seasonal events in the local newspaper, or the vast abyss of the internet, Fall fun enthusiasts can click their way through a categorized directory of anything and everything. For family style fun, Scarycuse.com includes a directory of Harvest Festivals, Pumpkin Patches and Corn Mazes. You’ll also find linked from the home-page, a section to submit pictures of Halloween yard displays. With all of the time, expense and creativity that goes into decorating, finally one can show off your work to an audience of more than just the neighbors who drive by!
For the more serious Halloween Enthusiast, Scarycuse.com offers an extensive listing of all Haunted Attractions in the greater Central New York community. From Haunted Hayrides to Ghost-walks, the directory is neatly laid out and calls attention to specific “Editors Picks”, which the site describe as great “Boo for your Buck”. While the site doesn’t currently review events, it does offer an interactive forum for User Reviews. User Reviews are a great way to see what other folks thought of an event, and the Scarycuse forum has many. Reviews detail cost, convenience, parking & more. If someone’s new shoes were covered in mud after a hayride, chances are it’s mentioned in the reviews section.
The Scarycuse forums also offer the ability to interact with other Halloween enthusiasts in the area. One of the more interesting forum topics is “Real Haunted places around CNY”. In addition to the forums, users can interact via Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace, all of which are linked from the homepage. For the die hard fans, Twitter followers can receive up to the minute late breaking updates on new listings in the directory!
A nice addition to Scarycuse.com would be the ability to browse events in a specific area. While it’s fun to see all the listings in abundance, narrowing it down to by neighborhood might be a useful feature.
That caveat aside, with a spooky-fun design and a comprehensive blend of information and interaction, I expect that Scarycuse.com will fast become the CNY community’s go-to site for planning Halloween activities.
