Throw a Twilight Inspired Halloween Party

Published by Lashawna Montroy

vampires and werewolves, you’ll have to forgo the crosses, bats, garlic, wooden stakes and silver bullets. Here are a few ideas to get you started. Choose the room you will be hosting your party in and set to work. Depending on whether you want an elegant and somewhat sophisticated party, or if you want to take it the other direction to be fun and silly – numerous decorating and prop options are available to you.

Props:

Because the books are set in the Washington state, create a feeling of the Pacific Northwest in your party room. Hang white or gray tulle fabric from the ceiling to create a foggy or misty feeling. Use thumbtacks to hand the fabric. If you have skinny or tall, undecorated Christmas trees, place them around the entrance – both inside and out – to give the impression of entering a forest. To create more of that foggy, rainy feeling – use a fog machine in the party room.

Wide, red ribbons, bright red apples, and white chess pieces can all be used as decorations and accent pieces throughout the room. Use red apples in glass or metal bowls as centerpieces. Place white chess pieces randomly throughout the room on tables.

Place mirrors of all sizes and styles throughout the party room. If you have any floor length mirrors – use them. Tie the red ribbons around the mirrors or position them on top of the mirrors.

White Christmas lights wrapped around stair rails, columns and posts, Christmas trees and strung along the ceiling make a great effect to go along with the theme. Make sure the lights along the ceiling are inside the tulle fabric for a great, misty effect.

Plastic vampire teeth can be placed in glass or metal bowls as fun party favors for guests.

Use several packages of Eclipse gum placed in bowls as party favors.

Colors:

The colors red, white and black are constant throughout the series – both in the stories and on the book covers. Decorate with red and white artificial roses. Put them in glass vases, scatter petals on the floor, or fill glass bowls with red and white rosebuds or rose petals.

Snacks:

Red finger gelatin cut into fun shapes are always a hit. To make, mix 3 pkg. (4-serving size each) Strawberry (or any other flavor) JELL-O Flavor Gelatin , 4 envelopes KNOX Unflavored Gelatine in large bowl then stir in 4 cups boiling water until completely dissolved. Pourinto 13×9-inch pan. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Cutgelatin mixture into small squares or use shaped cookie cutters to cut out. Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator. Make red punch using vanilla ice cream, red fruit punch and lemon-lime soda. As the ice cream melts it creates a tasty froth in the top of the punch bowl and cup.

Shiny, red apples, of course are a great snack.

Music:

The author, Stephenie Meyer, makes no secret of her fondness for the band Muse. She also credits listening to their music as inspiration for her while writing her novels. So, of course Muse is a perfect choice for music at a Twilight party. Other choices with similar styles would be Radiohead, White Stripes, Foo Fighters, and Weezer. Take one or more of these ideas and adapt them to your location, likes and dislikes. Use some of these ideas for inspiration and a springboard for your own creativity.

No matter what ideas you use or come up with yourself, a Twilight-inspired party is sure to be a fun and unique event.
