International Lens Film Series presents Nosferatu at Vanderbilt University in the Saratt Cinema (first floor of the Sarratt Student Center)

Made in 1922 and directed by F.W. Murnau, this film is said to be an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Nosferatu is very similar to Dracula, give or take a few elements. This film set the precedent for many vampire movies in that it was the first film to suggest that sunlight can harm vampires. The film will be accompanied by a live score performed by The Rats and People Motion Picture Orchestra.
Admission is free and the film begins at 7pm on 10/31. There will be a discussion following the film.

Rocky Horror Picture Show at The Belcourt Theatre

Starring Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon, Rocky Horror Picture Show (directed by Jim Sharman) is a definite cult classic. Released in 1975 as a music comedy, audiences have been enthused by this film’s eccentric characters and its catchy songs and dances. Midnight showings of this movie are popular the country over, so dress up as your favorite character and come down to The Belcourt Theatre in Hillsboro Village to enjoy this raucous film.
Admission is $10, show times are Fri 10/30 and Sat 10/31 at midnight. This is an 18 and up event.

Drag Me To Hell at Middle Tennessee State University

This horror flick is the tale of Christine Brown, a loan officer played by actress Allison Lohman, who is trying to get a promotion at work so she denies an extension for a woman’s mortgage. Unhappy with this decision, the woman puts a curse on Christine which must be passed on to someone within three days or she will be dragged to hell for eternity.

Just in time for Halloween, the sixth installment of the Saw series will be released on 10/23 at most major move theaters. Directed by Kevin Greutert, who has directed all the previous Saw films, this edition is said to be more violent than its predecessors and bring the story full circle.
