Here are some fun ornaments to make to celebrate the hunter or woodsman in your life. With hunting season kicking in to full gear, this is a fun surprise for the hunter in your life.

Red and Black plaid Hunter Vest Ornaments

Materials Needed:

  • Red and black plaid fleece-scraps
  • Jute
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun
  • Glue sticks

Cut a piece of fleece about 8″ x 4″. Lay it flat horizontally. Fold in the left side so that the edge lines up with the center. Now fold in the right hand side to meet the left edge in the center without overlap. If you think of it as a vest, cut away armholes on the top of each folded side. Fold back the lapel on each side of the neck and hot glue into place. Cut a piece of jute about 8 ” long. At the shoulder on each side put the end of the jute between the front and the back fabric. Now glue the shoulder pieces together making sure to glue the jute in place.

Cut four 3/4″ squares of fleece. These are the pockets. On each square, cut away the tip of the bottom two corners. Hot glue one to each hip in front and one at the chest area on each side in front.

Hunter’s Hat Ornie

Materials Needed:

  • Ping-pong balls
  • Pointed scissors
  • Hot glue
  • Hot glue gun
  • Red and black fleece scraps
  • Pencil/pen
  • Jute

Gently poke a hole in the ping-pong ball and cut a circle leaving about 2/3 of the ball. Make the opening as round as possible. Cut a piece of fleece about 3 1/2 ” square. Put a dab of glue on the outside center of the remaining ball. Center the fleece over the ball and smooth down. Continue gluing around while pulling the fabric taut. Cut away any fabric sticking out beyond the cut edge. Lay the fleece covered ball on a fleece scrap and draw the visor. Remove ball and cut out the visor. Hot glue the visor into place. Cut 8″ jute pieces and glue on the sides of the hat on the underside. This is the hanger.

Shotgun Shell Lights

Materials Needed:

  • 35 Christmas light set
  • 35 Once fired hulls

This is a very easy project with a big impact. I have listed to use once fired shotgun hulls because they have already been crimped and will not need any special crimping tools. Simply cover each individual light with the hull and re-crimp by just folding it in on itself once the light bulb is covered. These come in red, green, yellow, blue and gold.
