Halloween is a fun time for children and adults alike. Many times children want to bring cupcakes to class for a Halloween party and it is time for the parents to come up with a cute and fun idea that will spook the class without being too scary or inappropriate for school age children. There are many different ways that cupcakes can be made with a Halloween twist for a fun and festive treat to send in to a child’s class for the Halloween Party.
Try these delicious Halloween twists and turns to make a child’s Halloween Party at school a real spooky day of treats. From spiders to Jack O’ Lanterns, these cupcake ideas will have all the kids at school asking for more!
What you Need for Both Types of Cupcakes:
Chocolate Cupcake Mix
Cupcake Wrappers (to be removed before serving)
Cool Whip
Step 1: Bake Cupcakes-Preferably chocolate as these are dark in color and dark is spooky just like Halloween night.
Step 2: Allow cupcakes to cool completely and then remove the cupcake wrappers from all of them.
At this time you must choose a design for the cupcakes: Spiders or Jack O’ Lanterns
Additional Items to Make Spider Cupcakes for Halloween:
Chocolate Sprinkles
Black Licorice Strips
Red Hot Candies
To Make Spiders:
Follow steps 1 and 2 above, then continue with step 3:
Step 3: With whipped topping such as Cool Whip, frost cupcakes all the way around the top and sides of each.
Step 4: Decorate the cupcakes with chocolate sprinkles to make them look “furry”
Step 5: Cut strips of black licorice into 2 inch pieces and insert the pieces into the sides of the cupcakes to create “spider legs”
Step 6: Place small red hot candies on the top front of the cupcakes as “spider Eyes”Additional Items to Make Jack O’ Lantern:
Orange Food Coloring
Vanilla Frosting
Green Food Coloring
Various candies to make faces with
To Make Jack O’ Lanterns:
Follow steps 1 and 2 above, then Continue with step 3 below:
Step 3: Mix 2-4 drops of orange food coloring into entire tub of Cool Whip topping.
Step 4: Frost the tops and sides of the cooled cupcakes with orange Cool Whip
Step 5: Use candy pieces to create a spooky face on the top of each cupcake
Step 6: Use green frosting (created by adding green food coloring to vanilla frosting) to create a vine and stem on the top of each Jack O’ Lantern
