A Halloween vacation can be fun, exciting, educational and just plain scary. Yes visitors to Salem, Massachusetts can be an exciting, educational and even scary way to spend Halloween.

During the entire month of October there are many events that include the historical events of the Salem Witch Trials. But most exciting is the actual sharing of Halloween eve. On October 31, 2016 there are a full day of events for visitors to Salem, ones that can be educational and fun to participate at and in.

Witch School – Witch school occurs throughout the month of October and takes place at the Psychic Fair in the Museum Place Mall, 16 Essex Street in historic downtown Salem, Mass. Visitors can join with the Salem Witches for an enchanting lesson in magical arts, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm on special days. These events take place at both the Annual Psychic Fair and the Witchcraft Expo. Cost – $30.00 and are for adults and teens only no small children. All workshops are taught by practicing Salem Witches.

Take a Walking Tour with Jim McAllister’s “Salem Secrets and Treasures” tour. Thee tours began in 1983 bat Derby Square. These are one-hour “Tour du Jour” meeting outside the Salem Visitor Center. Tours take place, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings throughout the tourist season and on Halloween day. $10.00 for adults $3.00 for children Cash only. It is suggested you bring your own coffee.

Also throughout the month of October are the Annual Psychic Fair and Witchcraft Expo. These events take place at the Museum Place Mall, 176 Essex St in Historic Downtown Salem, Mass. Admission to these events is free of charge. Visitors explore the world of the Psychic. Have a psychic reading and some visitors will even have contact with the Spirit World. Enjoy the emporium filled with magical gifts and speak with real practicing Salem Witches. Fun for the entire family with a bit of the educational thrown in. The Psychic Fair and Witchcraft Expos is also a great educational opportunity.

Ghost Stores of New England Show happens every Saturday and Sunday and this year Halloween is on Sunday so this event is a great place for visitors to Salem for Halloween. Participants meet at Murphy’s Pub, 300 Derby Street, Salem. This 0-minute program presents evidence of ghosts on both film and video and is followed by a demonstration on kinetic energy. There is audience participation. Admission is $5.00. Registration is suggested by calling 978-777-2711.

One of the most educational and interesting events on Halloween is; Cry Innocent: The People versus Bridget Bishop. This event takes place daily during the month of October. This event takes present day visitors back to the year 1693. Bridget Bishop is accused of witchcraft and with audience participation as the Puritan jury visitor share historical testimony, cross-examination and even cross-examines the witnesses. You the visitors decide the verdict against Bridget Bishop. Would Bridget be put to death in today’s Witch Trial? This is educational and fun for all involved. The actors participate and respond in character to all questions, revealing much about the Puritan mind of the time. This Witch Trial takes place at the Old Town Hall, 32 Derby Square, Salem, Mass. Finally a great event for Halloween in Salem Mass. Is the Festival of the Dead: The Salem Witches’ Magic Circle. This is a free event for everyone who wishes to attend. From 5:000 pm to 7:00 pm on the Historic Salem Common. Visitors and Witches’ alike celebrate the Witches’ sacred holiday of Samhain. This is the day when the veil between our world and the spirit world is at its thinnest. Join the Reverends Lori Bruno, Christian Day and the Witches of Salem with the Dragon Ritual Drummers for a family friendly celebration for loved ones who have crossed the veil to the other side. This ceremony ends with the candlelight procession to Lapin Park, site of the statue of Samantha Stephens. Here at the statue is the concert by the Dragon Ritual Drummers and Kelliana.
