Does your child’s birthday party fall on or around Halloween? If so, you may want to think about planning a Halloween themed birthday party. There are so many different fun things that you can do at a Halloween party, but it is important for a certain amount of planning to go into it. Here are some tips on how to plan a Halloween themed birthday.

Choosing a Day For a Halloween Birthday Party

Although it may seem like a great idea to throw the Halloween birthday party on the actual day, this can be a disaster if you actually want children to show up at your child’s birthday party. You especially won’t want to plan it during trick-or-treating time. Even if you do, it is important to remember that many kids are going to be getting ready for the big night, so they may decline the birthday party invitation. Planning for the day before or the day after Halloween is in your best interest.

Make it a Halloween Costume Birthday Party

Since it is a Halloween themed birthday party, you will want to encourage the guests to wear costumes. The best thing that you can do to keep everyone happy is let them all choose whatever costume they want. Choosing a specific theme, such as a Halloween princess costume party, can be fun. However, in these rough economic times, many families cannot afford to buy two Halloween costumes if their child does not want to wear the same one for trick-or-treating.

Get Creative With Halloween Birthday Cake

One of the main keys to almost any child’s birthday is the birthday cake or cupcakes that you will serve. The main key is to think orange and black. An orange cake or cupcakes with black decorations is the way to go. Have the baker create spider webs with black icing. If you are making cupcakes, you may want to think about creating spiders out of licorice. Those who are making a cake from scratch may want to think about putting some gummy worms inside a chocolate cake mix. Remember that candy corn and Reese’s pieces both make great additions to Halloween themed cupcakes or birthday cake.

Halloween Party Activities For the Birthday Party

If you are planning to throw a Halloween themed birthday party for your child, there are a number of great activities available for you to choose from. Painting small pumpkins, playing mummy wrap with toilet paper, and skeleton scavenger hunts are just a few of the fun activities that can be played at a Halloween themed birthday party. You can also put out bowls of grapes for eyes, spaghetti for brains, and candy corn for claws. Have the children put on blindfolds and guess what they are touching.

A Halloween themed birthday party can be a whole lot of fun for children when it is planned right. The timing of the party, the cake, wearing costumes, and the right Halloween party activities can all have a huge effect on how enjoyable the Halloween birthday party is for your child.
