Newsboys, the Melbourne, Australia-based Christian pop band, have been busy throughout the last year, and they are not planning to slow down any time soon. In July, they released the Born Again CD, which produced the No. 1 hit “Born Again.” Another single from the CD, “Way Beyond Myself” is nearing the top of the charts.

Then, in October, they released “Christmas! A Newsboys Holiday,” a five-song extended play album. This all comes just after the switch from long-time founding member Peter Furler, to the new front man, Michael Tait.

According to the iTunes Review, “Tait’s aggressive yet polished vocal style blends well with his new bandmates’ sensibilities, adding some fresh urban touches without blunting the Newsboys’ trademark melodic bounce or rock crunch.”

iTunes offers the Deluxe Edition of Born Again for $13.99, the regular edition at $ 9.99 and the Christmas! A Newsboys Holiday EP album for $4.99.

A Newsboys Holiday Project

The Christmas release from the Newsboys, courtesy of InPop Records and produced by Dustin Burnett, offers six very different tracks from classics to more modern-day favorites.

Included on the CD is the classic “Winter Wonderland” written in 1934 by composer, Felix Bernard, and lyricist, Richard B. Smith.

The Newsboys sing another classic in “The Christmas Song,” written in 1944 by vocalist Mel Tormé and Bob Wells, and first recorded by The Nat King Cole Trio in 1946. Several renditions of the song were recorded by Cole during his career.

Other songs include the perennial carol favorite, “O Holy Night,” plus the fast-paced and fun-to-sing-with songs “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”

Newsboys Release Due In Spring

Before going on the Christmas tour, the Newsboys were in Nashville to film a music video for their song “Miracles.” The video will include live concert footage and will be available as a free download with the March 29 release of Born Again: Miracles Edition.

Despite the longevity of the Newsboys, having formed back in the 1980s, this band shows no sign of slowing down as they are reaching a whole new generation of listeners with their meaningful, message-filled songs.
