People love the challenge of Hold ’em and the thrill that comes from winning a big pot. Here is a fun gift you can give to the poker pro (only in their own mind) in your life. It is a tabletop tree decorated to celebrate their passion. You can use it to decorate for your holiday poker game on the food table too. The idea is to just have fun.

Materials Needed:

  • Poker Chips
  • Polymer clay
  • Paint and brushes
  • Ribbon
  • Toothpick
  • Pencil

Don’t worry that you will hurt the poker chips. You are only using them as a model. Mold the polymer clay to the size and shape of the poker chip. Using the toothpick score the edge to give it a ribbed look. Poke a hole near the top of the chip. Bake as per manufacturer’s directions. Once cool, use your pencil and sketch out the poker chip. Paint in the details. Thread the ribbon and tie in a loop to use as a hanger.

Materials Needed:

  • Chain
  • Mini deck of cards
  • Jump rings
  • Mini hole punch

For the garland you will need to go to the hardware store and get a length of small chain. It can be anywhere from 4-6′ in length depending on the size of your tree.

Punch a hole in the top corner of each playing card. You can use the jokers if you choose.

Attach a jump ring every three inches on your garland. When you have completed this step, return to the beginning and carefully attach a playing card to each jump ring. You can put them in order by suit and denomination or use a random pattern. It is totally your choice. Now just string it on the tree.

Tree Skirt-Royal Flush

Materials Needed:

  • Felt (16″ square piece of black felt, one red and one white felt squares)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Permanent markers (variety of colors)
  • Hot glue
  • Deck of cards

Fold the black piece of felt into quarters and round the corner where all the points meet. to create a circle. If it is off, it is just a different design. Open the felt up and cut a line from the outer edge to the center. In the center, cut out a circle that will accommodate the stem of the tree.

Cut 5 pieces of white felt measuring 3 1/2 x 2 1/2. Looking at the deck of cards, draw out the ace, king, queen, jack and ten of hearts as best you can. Cut out the hearts using the red felt. Hot glue hearts onto the white felt. Hot glue the white felt onto the black. They will actually look best if you overlap a corner here and there rather than line them up like soldiers.
