Milwaukee celebrates summer with festivals, fireworks, music, food and more. The beautiful Lake Michigan lake front is the backdrop to many of Milwaukee’s festivals. Following are some of the events that liven up Milwaukee in the summer:
Summerfest music festival will run from June 26, 2009 at the Henry Maier Festival Park. This is the 40th anniversary of the popular festival, the largest music festival in the world. The Lake Michigan lake front will be filled with the sounds of different styles of music,. Ten different stages are filled with music 45 different food and beverage vendors and four marketplaces offer entertainment for hours and hours.Lake Michigan breezes keep the grounds pretty comfortable on the hot summer days. .
Stroll through the grounds, have a beer or wine, and listen to performers on different stages. Every stage has tables and chairs so visitors can have a bite to eat while relaxing and listening to tunes. . Beer vendors are always nearby. Milwaukee area restaurants serve food from booths set up around the grounds. Summerfest is a delightful day, with music, sunshine, lake views, food and fun.
The music plays constantly from ten different stages. Some of this year’s featured performers are Steeley Dan, Def Leppard with Styx and Foreigner, The Fray with OKGo and Mae, Ludacris with Chris Brown Ciara and T Pain, Roger Waters, John Mayer with Ben Folds and Brett Dennen, Tool, Bon Jovi, Panic at the disco with Gym Class Heroes and Toby Keith with Miranda Lambert and Flynnville, .Eddie Butts, The Goo Goo Dolls, the Black Crowes, Blue Oyster Cult, George Thorogood, Family Stone Experience, Wierd Al Yankovic, B.B. King, Asia, Peter Frampton, The New Cars, INXS, Lindsey Buckingham, Clay Walker, Randy Travis, Los Lonely Boys, Mint Condition, Keller Williams
Food vendors have booths set up throughout the grounds. Milwaukee area restaurant set up food booths with a large variety American and ethnic food, including ribs, Italian food, pizza, brats, sausages Ethnic foods include Asian, Greek Mexican and German food. . Beverages include lemonade, soda, wine and beer.
Park near the grounds or take a shuttle from one of ten remote parking lots. The lakefronf festival admission is $15 for adults. See the Summerfest website for more information.
The Big Bang Fireworks show will take place on the “Summerfest grounds on June 28.
Fourth of July Fireworks on Milwaukee’s Lake Michigan lakefront. Crowds of people park and walk to the lakefront to watch this hour-long fireworks show The show is sponsored by U.S. Bank.
Polish Fest, June 22-24 at the Summerfest Grounds. Billed as “The World’s Largest Polish Fest”. The festival is a tribute to the Polish immigrants and culture. There will be food, music folk art and family activities.
Bastille Days, July 12-15: French street festival at Downtown’s Cathedral Square. The charming Parisian festival has street performers, food, wine, arts, minstrels, artists, minstrels, parades, Storming of the Bastille and a 5 K run.
Festa Italiana at the Summerfest Grounds, Henry Maier Festival Park, July 19-22. Festa Italiana is a celebration of Italian food and culture with ten stages of entertainment and spectacular nightly fireworks. The Flag Throwers from San Gemini, Umbria will performing at the festival on the lakefront.
German Fest, at the Summerfest Grounds, Henry Maier Festival Park, July 27 -29: Ethnic celebration of the German culture with music food and entertainment.
Wisconsin State Fair at the fairgrounds in West Allis, August 2-12: Eleven day fair with 30 stages of entertainment, food, animals and agriculture.
